Work on the new Oruro cement works in Caracollo, owned by Empresa Pública Productiva Cementos de Bolivia (Ecebol), is steadily progressing. Bolivia: Potosi plant ruled out

Bolivia’s president, Evo Morales, ruled out the building of a cement plant in Quiburi, Potosi.  The new works was expected to cost US$401m, including the building of a pipeline that feeds the plant. However, the project was postponed indefinitely although Empresa Pública Productiva Cementos de Bolivia (Ecebol) launched an international tender in February 2012 for the construction and commissioning of the plant.

Bolivia’s president, Evo Morales has kick-started construction of Empresa Pública Cementos de Bolivia's (Ecebol) new 1.3Mta cement works in  Jeruyo, Caracollo in the country’s Oruro department. Ecebol, the state-owned cement project, is expected to cover 22 per cent of Bolivia’s cement demand when it is completed in 2018, announced the Bolivian president Evo Morales. The government of Bolivia has authorised the release of US$244,928,439 to Empresa Pública Cementos Boliviana (Ecebol) for the implementation, operation and commissioning of a cement works in Oruro. The Banco de Desarrollo Productivo is making the resources available in the form of a 20-year credit with three years grace.
