Raysut Cement, Arabian Industries sign OMR2.1m deal

Raysut Cement Co has signed an agreement with Arabian Industries to implement a project to increase the competency of the Omani company’s gas pressure reduction plant (GPRP). The project is estimated to cost OMR2.1m (US$5.4m) and is expected to be completed in May 2016. Oman Gas Co has been nominated as the project services management consultant, Raysut Cement said in its filing with the Muscat Securities Market on Tuesday.

Qalaa Holdings 9M15 revenue driven by energy and cement divisions

Qalaa Holdlings reported consolidated revenues of EGP2051.2m in the third quarter of this year, up 19 per cent compared to the same period of 2014. German-based diesel engine provider MAN Turbo has won a contract with the United Cement Industrial Co (UCIC) to operate and service its new power plant in Saudi Arabia. Egypt: Ministry to assess environmental impact of coal use

Egypt's Environment Minister, Khaled Fahmy, has agreed to assess the environmental impact of seven out of 19 cement companies that have conducted studies to use coal as an alternative source of energy.   The minister told the MENA news agency that the approved studies included ways of reducing greenhouse gases, as the ministry requested. Egypt: Suez Cement 2Q net profit drops 57%

Suez Cement posted a second-quarter net profit of EGP60.9m (US$7.8m) on Tuesday, down 57.2 per cent from the EGP142.5m recorded a year earlier. Revenue over the three month period declined by 15 per cent due to lower prices and exports. Suez Cement said it was diversifying its energy sources to mitigate the impact of shortages which "affected negatively the company's profits".
