UltraTech first quarter profit falls 5.5%

UltraTech Cement's first quarter standalone net profit fell 5.5 per cent YoY to INR591 crore. The Aditya Birla Group firm had posted net profit of INR628 crore in the year-ago period. Lafarge Africa to supply Nigerian electricity grid

Lafarge Africa said on Friday it had applied to Nigeria's energy regulator for a licence  to generate 260MW of electricity to supply to the country's grid. Sanghi Industries to inaugurate new mill, India

Sanghi Industries has installed a new 1.2Mta grinding mill at its plant located in Sanghipuram, Kutch district, taking total capacity to 4.1Mta. The company now proposes to commence work on a 15MW Waste Heat Recovery (WHR) system at the main part of the plant. Chief Minister of Gujarat, Anandiben Patel, will inaugurate the grinding facility and lay the foundation stone for the WHR plant at a ceremony on 10 July 2015.

Government of India transfers environment clearance of 19 coal blocks

The government of India has so far transferred the environment clearance (EC) of 19 coal blocks out of a total of 29 approved mines from the previous allottees to new successful bidders including some cement producers. Russian mining and metals company Mechel ОАО signed a  coal supply memorandum with Chinese cement producer Jidong Cement.
