The government has given 450 hectares of land in Queen Elizabeth National Park to Hima Cement for limestone extraction, a move environmentalists say will scare away animals and birds and harm the tourism industry. Cement producers in Poland warn that cut backs in CO2 emissions in the coming years will impede the ability of Polish cement works to satisfy domestic demand. Rugby Cement given permission to burn Climafuel

Bosses at Rugby Cement works have been given permission to trial a new fuel-burning system. The Environment Agency has agreed to trials of Climafuel at Cemex’s Lawford Road plant. The scheme, which burns domestic fuel and waste, is seen as a clean and environmentally-friendly way to produce fuel. Anhui Conch says unit Wuhu Conch passes inspection

Anhui Conch Cement Company Limited (914) said Anhui Environmental Protection Bureau of the PRC had undergone inspection for the rectification progress of Wuhu Conch on 22 September.     The bureau then issued a "Letter Regarding the Approval of Delisting Wuhu Conch Cement Co, Ltd." and removed Wuhu Conch from the list of its regulated companies after passing the relevant inspection on Wuhu Conch on 30 September 2007.

ACC commissions wind energy farm in Tamil Nadu
