Pakistan cement dispatches total 39Mt in first 10 months of fiscal year

The Pakistan cement industry during the first 10 months of outgoing fiscal year July 2017-April 2018 dispatched 38.99Mt of cement compared to 33.880Mt during the same period last year. Following the government’s decision to change the Federal Excise Duty (FED) mechanism from variable five per cent of Marginal Retail Price (MRP) to a fixed rate of PKR1/kg, PKR50/bag (US$0.48/bag), cement prices have increased by approximately PKR35 (US$0.33).

Pakistani cement exports have fallen by 17.41 per cent to 5.48Mt during the first 11 months of the fiscal year, compared to exports of 6.65Mt during the same period in the previous year.
