India's UltraTech Cement Ltd said on Sunday it had entered a binding memorandum of understanding to acquire Jaiprakash Associates Ltd's cement plants for INR165bn (US$2.457bn). Foundation stone laid for Emami Cement's grinding plant, India

The foundation stone for the Emami Cement's new grinding plant was laid by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in Panagarh, West Bengal, on Saturday. "The 2Mta capacity unit is to be located at WBIDC Panagarh Industrial Park in Burdwan district of West Bengal at an investment of INR500 crore [INR5bn/US$73m]," a statement by Emami Cement said. Shree Cement has won the first ever non-coal mining lease auctioned by the state government of  Chhattisgarh, India. The Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM) price of limestone in Chhattisgarh was INR483.17/t. Shree Cement offered to pay INR284/t — the highest bid that was 58.95 per cent of IBM price. HeidelbergCement India has successfully commissioned a 12MW waste heat recovery (WHR) facility at its Narsingarh Plant in Damoh, Madhya Pradesh, on 15 February 2016. The WHR plant will utilise the waste heat generated by the clinker lines. The power generated will substitute equivalent grid power, thereby reducing the plant's power costs.

JK Cement has resumed production at its 3Mta facility in Baglakot, Karnataka, after operations were temporarily halted when the roof of a clinker silo caved in.
