Lafarge to buy out Baring stake in Indian unit

As part of the implementation in India of its planned merger with Holcim - and subject to its completion - Lafarge has signed an agreement to acquire the 14 per cent stake held by Baring in Lafarge India, for a consideration of EUR270m.   Following this transaction, subject to the approval of the regulatory authorities, Lafarge will hold 100 per cent of the shares of Lafarge India.

Dalmia Cement increases exports to Sri Lanka

Dalmia Cement is increasing its exports to Sri Lanka through channel partner Smart Dragon Lanka Pvt Ltd, the company said in a statement. Zuari Cement plans to increase Indian presence

Zuari Cement, part of the Italcementi Group, is looking to increase its presence in India ahead of an anticipated increase in domestic consumption. Sagar Cement rail line on track for July opening

India's Sagar Cement announced will commission its INR1200m (US$18.7m), 7km private railway line next month. This line will connect Sagar’s plant, near Matampally, in Nalgonda, Andhra Pradesh, with the main railway line. BMM seeks to raise US$33m from IFC

BMM Cements Ltd (BCL) is planning to raise US$33m (around INR2bn) from the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to fund its turnaround, Business Standard of India reports. Currently part of Bharat Mines & Minerals group (BMM group), BCL shareholders in November 2014 had agreed to transfer ownership to Sagar Cements Ltd (SCL). India to auction 10 coal blocks

The government of India said Thursday it will auction 10 coal blocks with extractable reserves of 356Mt to cement and steel companies. The auction process will begin on 8 June with the government notifying the blocks for different sectors. Bid documents for the blocks will be on sale from that day. The government will invite technical and financial bids for the mines and the last date for submission of the documents will be 21 July. The auction will take place between 11-17 August 2015....

Ramco boosted by cost control, stable pricing

India-based Ramco Cements reported a 274 per cent rise in 4QFY14-15 net profit to INR934.2m (US$14.6m) on better cost management and stable cement prices. Revenues for the three months to the end of March 2015 edged ahead by 1.2 per cent to US$156m but sales volumes fell 16.4 per cent to 1.88Mt (2.25Mt a year earlier). The output of eight core industries in India contracted for the second consecutive month in April, on poor performances by the cement, electricity, natural gas refinery products and fertiliser sectors. In April 2015, output by the eight industries fell by 0.4 per cent. Shree Cement commissioned its 1.5Mta clinker manufacturing unit at Baloda Bazar near Raipur in Chhattisgarh on 20 May 2015. The cement mill section had previously been commissioned on 24 February 2015. Shree Cement's cement plants are located at Beawar, Ras, Khushkhera, Jobner and Suratgarh in Rajasthan and Laksar (Roorkee) in Uttarakhand.
