Paraguay: INC’s kiln returns to normal service

Industria Nacional del Cemento (INC) announced that its kiln at the Vallemi works is back up and running since Tuesday after a six-day stop due to technical issues. At present the company is carrying out a fuel switch that will see the plant operate with petcoke, forest waste and coal among others. The change in fuel will allow INC to save over US$22m. The cement producer said around 40 per cent of the work oj the project has been carried out to date.

Paraguay: INC expects to use up 20% biofuel

Paraguay’s Industria Nacional del Cemento (INC) announced that subject to satisfactory analysis results, the cement producer will be including biofuel in its fuel mix. A series of tests is currently being carried out by the Engineering Faculty of the National University of Asuncíon (UNA). Jorge Méndez Cuevas, CEO of INC, said the company could substitute fuel oil with up to 20 per cent biofuel.

Paraguay: cement price decrease expected

Jorge Méndez, head of Paraguay’s Industria Nacional del Cemento (INC), announced a drop in cement prices for 2015-16. At present the price of a 50kg bag of cement is PYG42,000, but next year is expected to see the price fall to PYG35,000. The upcoming change has been attributed to production process modifications such as the plant’s new dryers and fuel switch at the Vallemí works.

Low Paraguay river makes INC clinker transport difficult

The low levels of the Paraguay river are making transport of clinker more difficult. The current water level is adding 20% to the clinker transport bill of Industria Nacional del Cimento (INC), according to its president, Carlos Krüssel Llano. Paraguay’ INC plans to increase cement prices

Industria Nacional del Cemento intends to raise the price of cement to offset its high production costs. While no official figure has been released yet, data indicate that the company is currently suffering a PYG6000 loss for each bag it produces. Carlos Kruessel Llano, INC president, said that a detailed study of cost composition would be made before a new price level would be announced.

INC to import 80,000t of clinker, Paraguay
