Masud Khan appointed CEO of Crown Cement

According to The Daily Star, Masud Khan has been appointed CEO of Crown Cement Group. Mr. Khan has previously served as CFO of LafargeHolcim Bangladesh Ltd. Alongside this, Khan has also been an independent director of Marico Bangladesh Ltd, GlaxoSmithKline Bangladesh and Berger Paints Bangladesh Ltd. “I believe that Crown will rise to greater heights in the years ahead and I am excited to be a part of this growth,” said Mr Khan.

LafargeHolcim's cement volumes increase by 4.7 per cent in 3Q17

LafargeHolcim announced cement volumes were up 4.7 per cent in 3Q17 and 1.8 per cent for the year to date. Globally, cement prices improved by 5.6 per cent in the quarter compared to the prior year on a like-for-like basis. LafargeHolcim in talks with PPC

LafargeHolcim announced that it is in talks with the board of directors of PPC regarding a possible transaction in Africa. “No agreement with PPC has yet been reached and no assurance can be given at this stage that a transaction will materialise,” said the building materials producer in a brief statement.

LafargeHolcim-owned Ambuja Cements' standalone unaudited income remained stable in 3Q17 at INR24.73bn (US$379.8m) when compared with the previous year (3Q16: INR24.72bn) but noted a 25.4 per cent drop when compared with 2Q17, when it reached INR33.16bn. The new cement plant at Biskra by CILAS was inaugurated on 17 October 2017 in the presence of the Minister of Industry and Jean-Jacques Gauthier, CEO of LafargeHolcim Algérie, among others. An intervention by Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh has forced two subsidiaries of LafargeHolcim with cement plants in Himachal Pradesh to reduce their prices by INR5 per bag in the state.
