Tajik-Chinese talks over new plant project

Talks between Tajiki and Chinese investors are underway over the construction of a cement plant in the south of the central Asian country. The 1Mta cement plant is expected to be constructed in Dangara, unnamed government sources revealed to local press. The estimated cost of the project is reported to be around US$150m.

Chad’s president, Idriss Déby Itno, launched the construction of a second cement plant on a 10ha site in Ndajemena, north of the country’s capital. Semen Indonesia is to provide a IDR5trn loan (US$421.76m) to subsidiary Semen Gresik to partly finance the latter’s new cement plant in Central Java, according to an announcement posted on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. Shree Cement plans to establish a 3Mta cement grinding mill in Dhenkanal district, Odisha state. Ciments du Maroc will be investing MAD170m (US$20.7m) in a new grinding unit in Jorf Lasfar, 110km southwest of Casablanca. The grinding centre will have a capacity of around 0.45Mta. Located 5km from the port of Jorf Lasfar, the facility will include a horizontal cement mill, two rotary eight-nozzle bagging machines, automatic truck loading and two bulk loading stations. Lafarge Algeria awards Sinoma Djamoura contract

Sinoma has been awarded its second cement plant project in Algeria as the Lafarge-Souakri joint venture signed the turnkey contract for its Djamoura works in Biskra. The new works will have a production capacity of nearly 3Mta and represents an initial investment of DZD32bn (US$0.4bn). A new cement plant is to be constructed in the Aravan district of Osh province, Kyrgyz Republic. The main investor in the 500tpd facility is a Chinese company, according to local press reports citing a statement from the press service of the the regional administration. "The agreement between the Chinese company and the Head of Alya Anar rural district stipulates that locals will be employed," the statement said.

PPC to construct Harare mill, Zimbabwe

PPC said it would spend US$80m on a cement mill in Harare, Zimbabwe, to be commissioned in 2016. The new mill, to be funded by a corporate loan, is expected to boost operating efficiencies.
