New Nigerian plant to begin production soon

Cement production at the Igumale Cement Factory in Nigeria is to commence this month, according to local press reports. The 600,000tpa cement factory situated in Benue State, is a joint venture between the state government and a Chinese partner Zhengzhou Cangxi and Commerce Development Company Ltd. The project, was initiated in 2001, is to be completed in “due course” according to Commissioner for Commerce and Industries, Hon. Terfa Atoza Ihindan. (Source: The Leadership).

APC Group Inc, an energy and mining holding firm affiliated with Belle Corp, plans to resume a US$200m project in Cebu, Philippines, as the government’s public-private partnership projects spur cement demand. Vietnam facing 6Mt surplus by year-end

Vietnam is projected to face a surplus of 6Mt of cement this year, the Vietnam Cement Association (VNCA) said. Domestic output is expected to reach between 60-62Mt, outstripping forecasted full-year domestic sales of 47-48Mt and exports 7-8Mt forecasts, the association was quoted by the financial website CafeF as saying Tuesday. Gresik to invest in new plants, Indonesia

Indonesian cement producer, PT Semen Gresik, plans to build new cement plants in Sumatra and Java this year with an investment cost of IDR7trn (US$756m), according to reports in the Jakarta Globe. CMS Cement, the sole cement manufacturer on the Malaysian state of Sarawak, is to invest MYR150m on an expansion programme, Malaysia’s National News Agency, Bernama, reported. Further to Saudi Cement Company announcement in February 2012 regarding re-operating of Kiln No. 6 with 4000tpd of clinker capacity, and also the re-operating of three old kilns with total capacity of 1325tpd during the month of May 2012, the company has announced that due to technical reasons re-operating of all four kilns will take place during the third quarter of 2012.
