Lafarge is expanding its operations in India but says it will do so organically and isn't considering any acquisitions at present, Chairman Bruno Lafont said Tuesday. Ambuja Cements, part of the Holcim Group, plans to invest INR18bn (US$358m) by December 2013 to increase capacity. The investment will be funded through internal accruals. Emerging markets continue to drive Holcim sales

Holcim's consolidated sales for 2011 fell 4.2% on the previous year to CHF20.7bn (US$23.1bn), although the company says that on a like-for-like basis it saw a +7.5% increase in revenues. Due to cash-neutral impairments totaling CHF775m, net income was down 57.9 per cent to CHF682m.
