Cement consumption in Spain reached 5.6Mt in the first half of 2015, reflecting an 8.6 per cent increase YoY, according to the latest data from cement association Oficemen. The Spanish cement market saw its growth decelerate from 13 per cent in April to 5.4 per cent in May 2015, with 1,023,326t shipped to domestic customers, according to the latest data released by cement association Oficemen. In the year to date, consumption increased 8.7 per cent to 4,537,502t.

Cement consumption in Spain has expanded by 13.3 per cent to 961,712t in April 2015 when compared with April 2014, according to cement association, Oficemen. For the first four months, domestic demand increased by 9.7 per cent YoY to 3,514,175t “Although the data are starting to look much better, we know a lot of work remains to be done, because we do not expect to achieve a full recovery before the end of the next decade,” said Aniceto Zaragoza, Oficemen CEO.

Spanish cement consumption increased 8.5 per cent YoY to 2,553,962t in the first quarter of 2015. Cement consumption in Spain reached 10.79Mt in 2014, largely stable when compared to the 10.74Mt recorded in 2013, latest figures released by domestic cement association Oficemen show. In September, Spain’s cement consumption rose 6.1 per cent YoY to 959,150t, according to the latest figures issued by Oficemen, the country’s cement association. Spain’s cement consumption fell by a further three per cent in August 2014 to 819,249t. Spain's cement consumption fell two per cent YoY to 967,790t in June, according to the latest data from Oficemen, the country's cement association. Cement consumption in Spain reported a 2.9 per cent drop in May to 978,688t, which is 28,849t less than the same month of last year, domestic cement association, Oficemen has said. The latest figure brings cement consumption for the year to date to 4,229,479t, down 3.5 per cent when compared with January-May 2013. Oficemen said it has been the first May since 1965 that cement consumption did not surpass the 1Mt mark.
