Spain’s cement demand up 6% in February

Cement demand in Spain, as measured by Oficemen’s Cement Demand Index, has increased 6.1 per cent YoY in February.

In the March 2018-February 2019 period total cement consumption in Spain reached 13.4Mt.

Cement and clinker exports fell 12.7 per cent to 7.9 per cent YoY in the February 2018-January 2019 period.The rise in CO2 emission rights prices and the increasing power costs continue to impact negatively on the domestic industry’s competitiveness in export markets, according to Oficemen.
