Pakistan cement dispatches rose by 4.09 per cent in the first 10 months of the current fiscal, the latest data from the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA) shows. Dispatches for the 10 months to April 2013 reached 27.664Mt compared to 26.576Mt during the same period of the previous year. Lucky Cement, has reported a 49 per cent YoY rise in net profit for the first nine months of FY13 as Pakistan’s largest cement producer by capacity is boosted by higher prices. Pakistan exported 6.22Mt of cement in the first nine months of FY12-13 earning US$421.12m, compared to 6.245Mt at US$342.95m in the same period of last year. This shows that exports fell by 0.39 per cent in terms of volume but were up by 22.79 per cent in terms of dollar value, according to data released by Pakistan’s Federal Bureau of Statistics. Pakistan cement manufacturers are to set to be hit by a rise in transportation costs following hikes in coal and raw material carrier charges by the All Pakistan Goods Transporters Association, effective 14 April 2013. DG Khan Cement Company (DGKC) registered a net profit of PKR4.2bn (US$42m) compared to PKR2.1bn in the first nine months of the fiscal year, an increase of 105 per cent. Pakistan-based producer Attock Cement reported a 40 per cent rise in profit during the January-March 2013 quarter, driven by higher prices. Pakistan's cement industry received US$6.3m in foreign direct investment (FDI) between the July 2012-March 2013 period, the country's Central Bank reported on 16 April. The amount is 294 per cent more than the corresponding period of the previous year (July 2011-March 2012), when FDI was US$1.6m.
