To prevent the repeat of a coal spill that has polluted the shores of Bacnotan, Holcim Philippines Inc has moved its temporary coal stockpile to enclosed storage areas and put up three additional siltation pond, according to the Philippine Daily Enquirer. Holcim Philippines records 25% fall in net profit

Holcim Philippines recorded a 25 per cent YoY drop in net profit to PHP1.6bn (US$30m) for the 1H18 period, with the results attributed to competition and higher operating costs. Taiheiyo has allocated PHP3.5bn for a new cement line in San Fernando, Cebu. At present the works produces 7350tpd and the project aims to raise output potential to 16,350tpd by the end of next year. Philippines-based Phinma Corp has announced that its cement trading unit secured a PHP875m (US$16.69m) loan to construct a new cement terminal. "The loan will be used for the construction of the cement terminal that will be located in Mariveles, Bataan," said Phinma in a statement. Philippines-based Eagle Cement Corp has recorded a three per cent YoY increase in net profit to PHP1.1bn (US$21.29m) for the first quarter of the year.
