Henry SY JR's Big Boss Cement Inc (BBCI) failed to get initial approval after the Philippine Board of Investments (BOI) denied its first application, because it lacked 'proof of concept'. BBCI President, Gilbert Cruz, said they filed a motion on Friday for reconsideration to the BOI to show their proof of concept. Hoang Phat Vissai exports 0.22Mt in January

Hoang Phat Vissai Group (The Vissai) has exported 220,000t of cement and clinker from Nghi Thiet port in Vietnam’s Nghe An province since the start of January. The exported cement is destined for the Philippines, Canada and China, according to Nguyen Quoc Tai, director of Nghi Thiet port and the grinding unit of Song Lam Cement JSC, a The Vissai affiliate. The Nghi Thiet grinding facility entered service in June 2017.

A new cement business, Big Boss Cement Inc, was launched in Manila, Philippines, on Thursday, according to ABS-CBN News. Cemex receives environmental approval for Solid Cement expansion

Ceemex has been given the all clear from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) for the its proposed expansion of its cement plant the Antipolo City, Rizal, Philippines. The Solid Cement Corp (SCC) plant will be expanded by 1.5Mta, doubling cement capacity at the facility with the new line. Cemex Holdings Philippines (CHP) signed a contract with CBMI Construction Co Ltd to commence the first phase of SCC's expansion project in Antipolo City in May 2017.

Eagle Cement breaks ground on Cebu Line 4

Eagle Cement Corp has broken ground on the fourth production line at its Cebu plant. The Cebu Line 4 is set for completion in 2020 and will include a 2Mta integrated cement plant, port facilities and cement terminals to serve the islands of Visayas and Mindanao. Total cement exports from Vietnam rose to 15.12Mt in the first 10 months of 2017, representing a 22.9 per cent YoY increase.
