Yanbu Cement records 25.5% YoY rise in quarterly net profit

In the quarter ended 30 September 2012, Yanbu Cement saw total revenues fall 21.4% to SAR339.6m (US$90.5m) and net profits slipped from SAR215.6m to SAR156.7m when compared to the previous quarter. However, on a YoY basis, the company recorded a 149.7% sales revenue increase from SAR272.5m. In terms of net profit, the Saudi Arabian cement producer reported a 25.5% advance from SAR124.9m.

Vulcan Materials' turnover for the first nine months recovered by 0.5 per cent to US$1958.9m, while the EBITDA declined by 15.7 per cent to US$286.8m. Oman’s leading cement producer Raysut Cement, reported a 62 per cent rise in pretax profit for the first nine months of 2012 due to higher sales and better price realisations. FCC to provide loan to Cementos Portland by year-end, Spain

Spanish builder FCC is expected to extend a EUR100m (US$127.3m) loan to its cement subsidiary Cementos Portland by end-December, according to reports in local paper Expansion. The credit is in line with the terms of the EUR1.274bn debt refinancing deal signed between Cementos Portland and its creditor banks in July. Yen Bai Cement and Minerals JSC said it made a loss of VND15.44bn (US$742,300) in the first nine months of this year, compared to a loss of VND8.63bn in the same period of last year. Revenues rose 3.07 per cent on year to VND246.45bn in Jan-Sept, YBC said in its quarterly financial report. In 3Q, YBC suffered a loss of VND1.85bn on revenues of VND84.66bn, versus VND5.94bn and VND84.36bn in the 3Q11, respectively.

Lafarge reported a sales rise for the third quarter and year-to-date, driven by successful price increases across product lines and by growth in many emerging markets.
