India’s largest cement producer UltraTech reported a 97 per cent rise in standalone profit to INR5.5bn (US$102m) for the second quarter of the current fiscal FY12-13 but higher input costs continue to impede the domestic industry. Kenya’s second largest cement producer ARM Cement (formerly Athi River Mining) said in the first nine months pretax profit rose to KES1.2bn (US$14.1m) from KES296m, driven primarily by higher sales of Rhino Cement. Qatar National Cement Company (QNCC) posted a net profit of QAR321.4m (US$88.3m) for the nine months period ended September 30, 2012 compared to a net profit of QAR329m for the corresponding period last year. Earnings per share amounted to QAR6.55 for the period ended September 30, 2012 versus QAR6.70 for the corresponding period in 2011.

Colombia’s Cementos Argos' third quarter operating revenues reached COP3.2bn as the cement company sold 8.2Mt of cement and 6.4Mm3 of concrete in Colombia, the Caribbean and the USA. ACC Ltd reported the growth of 52 per cent in its consolidated net profit for the second quarter of FY12-13 and expects its sales volume to increase in the next quarter as the monsoon season has ended. Gansu Qilianshan Cement Group reported a 3.95 per cent YoY decline in third quarter net profit  to CNY141m (US$22.5m). In the first three quarters, net profit fell 57.48 per cent to company reaped CNY167m net profits in the first three quarters, falling by 57.48 percent over the period last year. Kazakhstan-based producer Steppe Cement Ltd said 3Q12 revenue of KZT7.23bn (US$48m) was 28 per cent higher than the corresponding quarter in 2011 and has revised the demand outlook for the Kazakhstan market upwards for full year 2012.
