Saudi Arabia has set  the factory price of cement at SAR12/bag (US$3.20) and the retail price at SAR14/bag, the Saudi Press Agency reported, citing Minister of Commerce and Industry Tawfiq al-Rabea. Al Jouf Cement secures loan for expansion, Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabian cement producer, Al Jouf Cement, said it has signed and agreement with Saudi British Bank (SABB) for a SAR350m (US$93.3m) five-year Islamic facility. The financing will form part of the funds needed for the construction of a second production line and  dedicated  power plant. Saudi Arabia removes restrictions on cement imports

Saudi Arabia removed restrictions on cement imports to secure extra supplies at a stable price, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry said. “There are no restrictions on cement imports currently,” according to a statement posted on the Ministry’s website. Cement exports have already been halted and plants have been ordered to operate at full capacity. Southern Province new line begins production, Saudi Arabia

Southern Province Cement (SPC) said the production line at its Tuhama plant started commercial production last week. The new 5000tpd line brings the Tuhama plant capacity to 10,000tpd and SPC’s total capacity to 23,000tpd. Last month the company announced the launch of trial productions at its new line, SeeNews Middle East and Africa reports.

Saudi Arabian cement producer, Al Jouf Cement, says it has increased cement prices by 30 per cent to SAR260/t (US$69, however, a dispute with Saudi Aramco could mean prices will continue the upward trend. Saudi Cement announced that it will restart its sixth kiln line in May this year at the latest after upgrade work is completed. Qassim Cement’s full year 2011 net profit grew approximately 10% to SAR553m, according to a statement on the stock exchange website. The board is proposing a cash dividend distribution of SAR3.5/share for 2H11, which would bring total FY11 dividend payments to SAR5.75/share.

Saudi Arabia has stopped cement and clinker exports to prevent shortages and to stabilise domestic prices. Saudi Cement Company will start up its Kiln No 6 with 4000tpd clinker capacity by May 2012 after it has completed most of the rehabilitation works.
