Siam Cement Group (SCG) plans to build a new cement plant in Indonesia to capitalize on the country's rapidly growing demand for construction materials, the Jakarta Globe reports. Thailand’s Siam Cement has reached a deal to raise its stake in a listed Philippine building materials firm from 40 per cent to 80 per cent in a deal valued at THB1bn (US$33m). Fitch Ratings (Thailand) Limited has revised Siam Cement Public Company Limited's (SCC) Outlook to Stable from Positive. The ratings have been affirmed at National Long-term 'A(tha)' and National Short-term 'F1(tha)'. The agency has also affirmed SCC's senior unsecured debenture at 'A(tha)'. As part of its plan to sell non-core assets, Australian building materials producer, Boral has sold its Indonesian business for US$315m to the Siam Cement Group of Thailand. Boral said it had finalised an agreement with the Thai conglomerate to sell its Indonesian construction materials business.
