US seven-month shipments reach 48.5Mt – preliminary data

Total Portland and blended cement shipments in the US and Puerto Rico for the seven months to the end of July 2014 reached 48.537Mt, preliminary data from the US Geological Survey (USGS) shows. Of the total, domestic supplies amounted to 44.672Mt while imports were 3.865Mt. Fitch Assigns 'BB -' Ratings to CEMEX's Notes

Fitch Ratings has assigned expected ratings of 'BB-/RR3(EXP)' to Cemex's proposed USD notes due in 2025 and its proposed Euro notes due in 2022. First-half US cement shipments up 7%

Total shipments of Portland and blended cement in the US and Puerto Rico for the year through June 2014 reached 39.5Mt, up by about seven per cent from the same period in 2013. Latest data from the US Geological Survey shows that shipments during June 2014 alone were up by 11 per cent YoY to 8.3Mt. Boral's turnover in its financial year to the end of June 2014 eased by 1.6 per cent to AUD5204m (EUR3646m), but the EBITDA improved by 3.9 per cent to AUD556m (EUR390m). The trading profit advanced by 28.9 per cent to AUD294m (EUR206m) and after a net interest charge 14.4 per cent lower at AUD83m (EUR58m) the pre-tax profit rose by 62.7 per cent to AUD211m (EUR148m). Rating and Investment Information Inc (R&I) has upgraded Taiheiyo Cement to to BBB+ from BBB. The outlook is ‘Stable’.
