Ukraine: Eurocement deliveries edge up in 1H13

Eurocement Ukraine increased its deliveries by 2.1 per cent YoY to 0.697Mt in the first half of 2013. In addition, the company has enjoyed a steady increase in its bagged cement shipments and noted a 10 per cent rise to 0.259Mt during the same period. Just under a third of the total volume was high-quality CEM I 42.5N, which registered a modest rise of 1.1 per cent (2200t). In addition, offtake of CEM II A-S32.4R cement increased by nearly 40 per cent (40,500t).

Mykolaivsement announces supervisory board reshuffle

As a result of the recent change in ownership from Lafarge to CRH, Mykolaivtsement has announced changes to its supervisory board including the position of chairman. Supervisory board chairman Guenther Smetana has been replaced by Barry Leonard. Lafarge sells Ukraine cement plant to CRH

Lafarge is to sell its cement activities in Ukraine to CRH plc for an enterprise value of EUR96m. Lafarge, through its subsidiary Mykolaivtsement, operates a 1.3Mta integrated wet-process works at Mikolaiv in western Ukraine, near Lviv and has a domestic market share of around 12 per cent. Mixed results for Ukrainian producers

Two of Ukraine’s leading  cement producers have reported a mixed set of full year 2012 results. Volyn Cement ended 2012 with a net profit of UAH4.032m, according to preliminary data published by Ukrainan News. In 2011, it saw its net revenues up 50.72 per cent or UAH 219.35m to UAH651.838m, comparing with 2010. Ukrcement expects cement production decline in 2013

Ukraine's Ukrcement association expects cement production to fall 5-7 per cent (by 489,000-684,000t) in 2013, against 9.089Mta-9.284Mta in 2012, executive director of the association Petro Lopatiyev reported. The supervisory board of HeidelbergCement Ukraine, based in Dnipropetrovsk region, appointed David von Lingen Deputy General Manager on 8 February 2013. Plants operating under the Eurocement-Ukraina network produced more than 1.2Mt of cement in the first nine months of 2012. More than 1.22Mt of cement have been sold in the reporting period. Ship faces detention in Ireland over claims of unpaid wages

A ship carrying cement was facing detention in Drogheda on the east coast of Ireland last night due to an almost €80,000 in alleged unpaid crew wages, according to reports in the Irish Times. The MV Julia’s nine -man crew from Ukraine, Russia and Lithuania had not been paid since May, International Transport Workers Federation co-ordinator for Ireland and Britain Ken Fleming said. Ukrainian cement producer Ivano-Frankivskcement achieved a net profit in 2011 of UAH6.039m (EUR0.58m), according to local press reports.  Net revenue increased by 23.73% or UAH168.194m to UAH876.974m over 2010.
