Cembureau voices concern over EU GHG targets

On 23-24 October the European Council will decide on the 2030 climate and energy framework, including targets for GHG emissions reduction, renewables and energy efficiency. In September, Spain’s cement consumption rose 6.1 per cent YoY to 959,150t, according to the latest figures issued by Oficemen, the country’s cement association. Holcim has hosted the official groundbreaking ceremony for its new cement import terminal at the Port of Timaru. State-owned Vietnam Cement Industry Corporation (Vicem), the country’s leading cement producer, said it sold 16.14Mt of cement and clinker in the first nine months of this year, up 1.6 per cent from a year ago. Savannah lines up new capacity investments

Savannah Cement, one of Kenya's newest market entrants, is set to build two new plants as it nears exhaustion of its current capacity, managing director, Ronald Ndegwa, said. Indonesian cement demand in the first nine months of 2014 rose by 3.4 per cent YoY to 42.993Mt, latest data from the Indonesia Cement Association (ASI) reveals.
