LafargeHolcim to build first CC facility at Carboneras plant

LafargeHolcim will begin to build the first carbon capture facility at its Carboneras plant in Almería, Spain, at the end of the year. It will use British Carbon Clean technology and the captured carbon will be used to improve the agricultural performance of the greenhouses in the province. Cementos Molins has announced its 9M20 results, with net profits reaching EUR62m, 12 per cent less than the same period last year. In comparable terms of exchange rates and hyperinflation adjustment, net profits to September grew by 13 per cent. Carbon Clean announced today that it has signed an agreement in Spain with LafargeHolcim, ECCO2, and Sistemas de Calor to develop a large-scale carbon capture and utilisation plant.   The project, based in LafargeHolcim’s Carboneras, Almeria, cement plant in Spain will aim to capture CO 2 emitted through the cement production process to be further transformed, cleaned and reused locally. Nigeria’s Dangote Cement is not expected to attempt an initial public offering on the London Stock Exchange until at least 2023, according to News 24. Swiss cement deliveries up 1% in 3Q

Cement deliveries in Switzerland (including Liechtenstein) edged up by 0.9 per cent YoY to 1,137,615t in the third quarter of 2020. Cement demand in Spain has declined by 11.6 per cent YoY to 9.858Mt at the end of the 3Q20, according to Oficemen, the country’s cement association.
