Cementos Molins posted a consolidated net profit of EUR50.8m in 2015, representing a 65 per cent rise YoY. The Spanish cement producer’s overseas companies saw profits rise by 9.3 per cent to EUR64m while the domestic arm continued to note net losses despite a 52.6 per cent YoY improvement. In 2015 Paraguayan cement producer Industria Nacional del Cemento (INC) sold 12.4m bags of cement, an increase of eight per cent YoY, according to Jorge Méndez, CEO of INC. Lafarge Africa has now completed the acquisition of the outstanding 30 per cent of United Cement Company of Nigeria from Flour Mills of Nigeria to make it a wholly-owned subsidiary. Cementos Portland Valderrivas has seen 1H losses of EUR39.9m, 28.9 per cent higher than in 1H14, when it recorded a loss of EUR31m. The result is attributed to the lower sales of CO2 emission rights, which reached EUR10.6m, and a change in the way the cost of maintenance stoppages is accounted for (EUR3.2m). Cementos Portland reports EUR45.3m net loss in 9M14

Spain's Cementos Portland has reported a EUR45.3m net loss in 9M14, a 92.1 per cent increase when compared with the loss noted in 9M13. Turnover fell by 1.6 per cent YoY to EUR406.6m as non-profitable plants were closed, but cement sales were up by five per cent. EBITDA rose 95 per cent to EUR82.6m, fuelled by efficiency measures implemented in Spain and the US, the deregulation of the cement industry in Tunisia, sustained growth in the US and improved emission rights sales in Spain.

Ciments du Maroc posts positive 1H14 results

Ciments du Maroc saw turnover increase to MAD1.63bn (US$185m) in 1H14, up 16.4 per cent from MAD1.4bn the same period the previous year. Bangladesh: 1HFY13-14 cement exports fall

The Bangladesh cement industry saw its exports dip 6.64 per cent from July to December 2013. According to the Bangladesh Export Promotion Bureau, the sector exported US$2.53m of cement, down from US$2.71m during the equivalent period in 2012.
