The Semen Indonesia group has reported a 14.1 per cent YoY increase in cement sales volumes to 2.49Mt in January this year, according to the Indonesia Cement Association. Sephaku Cement posts 16% fall in profits in 2017

Dangote-owned Sephaku Cement has posted a 16 per cent drop in its full-year profit, despite revenue increasing by 3.7 per cent to ZAR2.37bn (US$201.1m) in 2017. The South Africa-based company turned a profit of ZAR73.9m in the 2H17, compared with a loss of ZAR16.1m in 1H17, resulting in full-year profit of ZAR58.7m. China Tianrui records revenue increase for 2017

China Tianrui Group Cement has announced that its profit attributable to owners rose 238.6 per cent YoY for the full-year 2017 period, increasing to CNY1bn (US$158.47m) from CNY295.8m. Revenue advanced 40.1 per cent on the previous year, reaching CNY8.42bn. Gross profit grew by 58 per cent YoY to CNY2.40bn, while the gross profit margin rose to approximately 28.5 per cent. This has been attributed to a greater increase in cement and clinker prices than in production costs.

RAK White Cement to pay dividends worth AED25m

UAE-based RAK White Cement has approved the Board’s recommendation to distribute five per cent of capital as cash dividends for the FY17. The company will pay five fils per share to the entitled shareholders, amounting to a total of AED25m (US$6.81m). RAK’s preliminary financial results for the FY17 show a 27.6 per cent YoY fall in profits to AED30.42m, compared to AED42m of FY16. The company’s capital currently stands at AED500.16m, according to Mubasher.

Dangote Cement records 31% revenue increase in 2017

Dangote Cement Plc has announced its unaudited results for the full-year 2017 period, which show a 31 per cent YoY increase in revenue to NGN805.6bn (US$2.24bn) from NGN615.1bn. Revenue attributable to Nigeria grew by 29.6 per cent YoY, with the sales from the company’s three plants in the country contributing NGN552.36bn. RHI Magnesita saw pro-forma revenue up 11 per cent in 2017 to EUR2677.2m for its steel and industrial divisions. PT Semen Indonesia announces 56% fall in net income

PT Semen Indonesia has announced an almost 56 per cent YoY drop in net income for the full-year 2017 period, decreasing to IDR2.01trn (US$146m) from IDR4.52trn. According to a Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S poll, the results fell beneath the average estimate of IDR2.28trn expected for the year.

Eagle Cement's net profit rises to US$82m

Philippine-based Eagle Cement Corp increased its net profit last year by four per cent to PHP4.26bn (US$82m) on strong sales volumes. Excluding expenses from its initial public offering, net profit rose by five per cent to PHP4.33bn last year, the company disclosed to the Philippine Stock Exchange on Friday. Yanbu Cement reports 39% fall in profit for 2017

Saudi Arabia’s Yanbu Cement has reported a 39.4 per cent YoY decrease in profit for the full-year 2017 period, falling to SAR319m (US$85.07m) from SAR526m. The company has attributed the results to a decline in sales volume and the average price of sales, according to Mubasher. In the 4Q17 profit dropped 7.7 per cent to SAR96m, compared with SAR104m of the year-ago period.

NCC announces 39% drop in profit for 2017

Dubai-based National Cement Company (NCC) has announced a 38.7 per cent YoY decrease in profit during the full-year 2017 period, to AED53.58m (US$14.59m) from AED89.02m.  According to a company statement, the board has recommended the distribution of AED53.8m in cash dividends for 2017, with a per-share dividend of AED0.15, as a result. The projected dividends account for 15 per cent of its capital.
