Cement dispatches in Colombia edged up 0.3 per cent YoY to 1.021Mt in November 2017, according to the national statistics office, DANE. Cement sales in Puerto Rico down 47% in October

Cement sales in Puerto Rico fell 47.1 per cent in October 2017 when compared with the previous year as result of the impact of Hurricanes Irma and Maria. Cement sales have been declining since 2013 and fell by 12.3 per cent in 2016. Output from domestic cement plants has fallen by 52.9 per cent YoY in 2017, reflecting an acceleration of production contraction from 11.5 per cent in 2016.

Cement demand in Indonesia in October 2017 and the first 10 months of 2017 has shown sustained robust growth. The Indonesian Cement Association (ASI) and PT Semen Indonesia expect this trend to continue for a further one or two months before the start of the rainy season. The total consumption of cement and clinker from Vietnam cement producers grew six per cent to 59.27Mt in the first nine months of this year, reports the Ministry of Construction. Portland Cement Association's (PCA) Market Intelligence Group has forecast annual cement consumption to climb in the USA by 2.6 per cent during 2017 and 2.8 per cent in 2018. The updated forecast adjusts downward PCA projections released earlier this year.
