Cement producers assess damage after major storm hits Nepal

A number of factories in the Birgunj industrial corridor have reported damages after a major storm hit the districts of Bara and Parsa, Nepal, on Sunday evening. Rungta Group, Kalash Cement and Chachan Group are the companies that faced the worst impact, according to Subodh Gupta, senior vice chair of the Birgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industries. JK Cement have announced that its 3Mta plant in Muddapur, Baglakot, India, has temporarily ceased operations. The clinker silo roof unexpectedly caved in, causing steel structural supports and a clinker conveyor drive station to fall into the silo.
