Fijian Holdings Ltd (FHL) is planning to set up a warehouse in the west to avoid cement shortages in the future, reports the Fiji Broadcasting Corporation. Birla Corp is planning to roll-out its premium-brand product, Perfect, across all regions of India apart from the South. Canadian cement producer McInnis Cement faces a new challenge in distributing its cement. The Quebec Ministry of Transport is imposing a 10 rail cars/week limit on cement transportation between Matapédia and Caplan due to the dismal state of the rail line. Cemex conducting pilot tests for Magdalena river transport

To improve its operational efficiency, Cemex has started running pilot tests to transport cement via the Magdalena River in Colombia. Cement is transported from central Colombia to the Caribbean region during these trials. On the first trip, some 950t were transported from the main plant at Caracolito to Sociedad Portuaria de Barranquilla. Ghacem opens new depot

Ghacem Ltd has opened a new depot in Sefwi-Wiawso, Ghana. The company now has six depots, with the latest being part of a scheme to increase cement availability in the Western Region. The depot has a 3000t capacity and will be used to store weekly deliveries for local towns, reports Joy Online. First cement shipment arrives at Barranqueras port

The first shipment of 3964t of cement was unloaded at the Argentine port of Barranqueras, Chaco region. The Bolivian cement was purchased by Cemento Avellaneda and will be distributed throughout the north of Argentina. Some 50,000tpa of cement was imported into Argentina in 2016 and 2017, according to The Global Cement Report, 12th Edition.

Lipetskcement brings new logistics facility online

Lipetskcement, part of the Eurocement Group, has launched a new RUB600m (US$10.4m) production and logistics facility for packing, palletising and shipping of cement. The investment enables Lipetskcement to ship up to 10,000tpd of cement. The company has increased its loading rate of bulk cement trucks by more than five times. In the packing section, the bagging rate has more than doubled to 2400bags/h.
