Local cement sales in the Dominican Republic increased 5.1 per cent in the first six months of 2018 to 2,196,282t from 2,089,935t in 6M17, according to the country’s cement association, Adocem. In terms of sales revenues, a 12.9 per cent rise was reported to DOP9.612bn (US$192.176m) from DOP1.096bn. Peru’s cement plants supplied 790,000t of cement to the domestic market in July 2018, up 1.8 per cent YoY and four per cent MoM, according to the country’s cement association, Asocem. Vietnamese exports of cement and clinker soared to 2.251Mt in July 2018, up 61 per cent YoY. Bangladesh forsees 11.2% growth in exports FY18/19

Bangladesh government has set an export target of US$14m for cement industry for the financial year 2018-19 (June-July) against US$12.59m from last fiscal year. The target is based on an expected growth of 11.20 per cent. Vietnam’s cement and clinker exports surged 63.2 per cent to 17.65Mt and 73 per cent to US$656.3m in the first seven months of 2018, according to the country’s General Department of Customs. Around 26.9 per cent of exports were shipped to Bangladesh, Vietnam’s largest cement and clinker export market. Domestic cement sales in Brazil slipped 2.5 per cent to 4.589Mt in July when compared with the year-ago period when sales reached 4.709Mt, according to the country’s cement association, SNIC. Argentina’s cement market contracted by 6.3 per cent in July 2018 when compared with the previous year, according to the country cement association, AFCP. Cement sales in Pakistan increased 5.1 per cent in the first month of FY18-19. In July, total cement dispatches rose to 3.554Mt from 3.382Mt in July 2017, according to the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers’ Association.
