DG Khan: southern expansion progressing well

Orascom wins greenfield contract in Algeria

Orascom Construction has been awarded the contract for a greenfield cement plant in Algeria. The new 6000tpd plant is for a private sector client and comprises infrastructure work for an industrial complex, Orascom said in a statement. The combined value of both contracts is US$180m.

Approval granted for new Quang Nam plant, Vietnam

ThaiGroup JSC has received approval from the Peoples’ Committee of Quang Nam province in Vietnam's central region to develop the second cement plant in the area. The company plans to build the plant on an area of 6.5ha in Thanh My town, Nam Giang district, Vietnam's Ministry of Construction said. The BUA Group of Nigeria in talks with China’s Sinoma to build two cement plants in east Africa and a steel plant in Nigeria for US$1.9bn, according to a report by Reuters. BUA Group chairman, Abdulsamad Rabiu, told the international news agency that the two cement plants will have a capacity of 3Mta and cost US$700m. FLSmidth has signed an EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) contract with a value of more than EUR200m with SARL Amouda Ingineering for the supply of a greenfield cement plant in Algeria. Egypt issues licences for new cement factories in Upper Egypt

Egypt's Ministry of Trade and Industry has issued new 14 licences for cement factories in Upper Egypt governorates, Minister Tarek Qabil announced Wednesday. According to the minister, the factories are set to operate with coal, providing them with the necessary energy security for stable cement production.
