Philippine conglomerate DMCI Holdings plans to enter the cement business with the potential construction of a cement plant to make use of low-grade coal and vast limestone reserves in Antique’s Seminar Island. Egyptian Cement Co has entered into negotiations with a local banking alliance to obtain a loan of EGP4bn (US$221m) to partly finance the cost of its first plant and construction materials complex in Sohag province. ACC considers Telangana plant construction

ACC Ltd is considering setting up a cement plant in the southern Indian state of Telangana, a senior official from the LafargeHolcim company told local press. Speaking to reporters from the Telangana Today, Philip Mathew, chief manufacturing officer of ACC, said: “We have recently set up one plant in Chhattisgarh and the effort is stabilising it. UltraTech Cement, an Aditya Birla group company, yesterday reported consolidated sales for FY17 of INR250.92bn (US$3.89bn) against INR248.8bn in the previous year. Profit before interest, depreciation and tax of INR58.61bn was nine per cent higher and profit after tax up 10 per cent YoY to INR27.15bn. Lucky Cement achieved a profit before tax of PKR14.668bn (US$140.2m) during the first nine months of FY16-17 compared to the PKR13.395bn recorded in the same period a year earlier.
