Ukraine producer widens net loss

HeidelbergCement Ukraine, the local unit of HeidelbergCement AG,  saw its net loss expand to UAH425.4m (EUR18.5m) in 2014 from UAH99m the previous year, the plant said in a statement seen by news agency Ukrainian News on Tuesday. As of 2014, Dnipropetrovsk-based HeidelbergCement Ukraine had two cement production facilities, four ready-mixed concrete plants, five cement terminals, two aggregates and one grinding site in the country.

Bosnia: TCK expects flat output

HeidelbergCement AG expects the falling oil prices to have a positive effect on the company`s earnings in 2015, a company spokesperson told German weekly Euro am Sonntag. The low fuel prices will have a positive impact on the company’s energy costs, the spokesperson said. In November, the global cement major said its third-quarter operating income before depreciation (OIBD) increased by 10 per cent to EUR866m thanks in part to price increases and declining energy prices.

On 14 January the foundation stone for a new cement plant in Togo was laid in the presence of the country’s president, Faure Gnassingbé. HeidelbergCement subsidiary Scancem, in partnership with Maxime Cardoz, a private investor from Senegal, has applied to the IFC for a loan of EUR11m to help finance Guinea-Bissau's first grinding plant.
