The state cabinet of Himachal Pradesh (HP) has cancelled the Memorandum of Understanding for a 2Mta cement plant planned by Jaiprakash Associate Ltd's (JAL) for failure to launch construction. Mangalam Cement, part of the BK Birla Group, has started commercial production at its new cement mill in Adityanagar Morak, District Kota, Rajasthan. India Cements has swung to a loss in the final quarter of the current fiscal compared to a profit last year on weak demand and overcapacity in southern markets. Khaitan & Co has advised Orient Cement on loan facilities worth US$200m from a syndicate of lenders led by State Bank of India.
