India Cements approves scheme of amalgamation

India Cement has informed the Bombay Stock Exchange that its board of directors has approved a scheme of amalgamation of its subsidiaries Trinetra Cement (TCL) and Trishul Concrete Products Ltd (TCPL), effective 1 January 2014, subject to approval from the relevant authorities.

Pakistan’s export volumes fell 7.5 per cent YoY in the first seven months of the current Pakistan fiscal, while revenues were also down 13 per cent over the same period. The All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA) chairman Mohammad Ali Tabba has urged the Indian high commissioner to intervene regarding the renewal of Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) licences which he claims is impeding cement exports from Pakistan to India. ACC has inaugurated a blended cement plant at Padubidri in Udupi district in the Karnataka state of India. The unit will use fly ash from Udupi Power Corporation’s thermal power plant in Udupi, PN Iyer, chief executive (South) of ACC Ltd, told those in attendance. Cement producers in southern India have begun exporting to Myanmar in a bid to boost utilisation rates as regional domestic demand remains subdued.
