India-based Ramco Cements Limited (TRCL) has announced its financial results for the 4QFY24, reporting a 20 per cent decline in its standalone net profit after tax to INR1210m (US$14.54m), compared with INR1520m in the same period a year prior. Tanzania has started white cement production at a 200tpd cement plant in Mkuranga District, Coast Region. The new plant is owned by Fortune Cement Co Ltd. In April 2024 cement sales in Puerto Rico increased by 7.5 per cent YoY to 1.277m bags of 42.5kg, or 55,430t, according to data from the Statistics Institute. In March cement sales fell 17.1 per cent YoY to 51,722t, following a 7.8 per cent YoY decline in February, when sales fell to 47,880t. Cement demand in Argentina fell to 661,122t in April, representing a YoY drop of 35.7 per cent from 1,028,598t in April 2023 but up 4.2 per cent MoM from 634,342t in March 2024, according to the country’s cement association, AFCP. Cement dispatches in Colombia fell 19.1 per cent YoY to 0.941Mt in March 2024 from 1.163Mt in March 2023, according to the nation’s statistics office, DANE. Bangladesh has estimated a significant growth in demand for raw materials for steel and cement industries by 2027. Italian cement output continues to expand, rising 10 per cent YoY in February 2024, according to the latest data from Italian concrete association, Federbeton.
