Indian cement producer UltraTech , part of the Aditya Birla Group , will by a 26 per cent stake in O2 Renewable Energy XXII for approximately INR160m to meet the energy requirements of its cement plants. Huaxin Ltd has increased its shareholding in Zambia-based Chilanga Cement from 75 to 81.19 per cent following the purchase of 50,013,468 shares, according to the Times of Zambia. The company submitted a cash offer to the board of directors of Chilanga Cement to purchase from the minority shareholders, all the remaining 50,013,468 shares that did not own representation of 25 per cent shareholding.

Nigeria’s Dangote Cement is planning to begin a share buyback programme, starting with a first tranche of 85.2m shares or 0.5 per cent of the total in issue. CRH plc has completed the fourth phase of its share buyback programme, returning a further EUR200m of cash to shareholders, according to a press release.
