Dalmia appoints Ujjwal Batria as COO

Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Ltd has appointed Ujjwal Batria as COO of the company. Mr Batria will lead the operation of sales and marketing, logistics, manufacturing and technical services departments, according to the company. Mr Batria has previously served as CEO of Lafarge India Ltd, alongside associations with Century Textiles & Industries Ltd and Tata Steel. 

GICA plans its first export shipment to west Africa

Algeria’s GICA has signed a maritime contract of carriage with CNAN Nord, a subsidiary of state-run shipping group GATMA, for the company’s first shipment of 10,000t of cement to west Africa. GICA plans to export between 1-1.5Mt of its production in 2018, according to the Ministry of Industry and Mining.

India’s UltraTech Cement has commissioned its second 1.75Mta grinding facility at Dhar, Madhya Pradesh, with the first entering operation in April 2018.
