Asamer will transport the vast amount of material produced at one of its plants via train.

Manfred Asamer, head of Upper Austrian firm Asamer, said today 80 to 90 per cent of the material at the Roitham factory – or 180,000t of gravel – will be transferred to its plant in Linz via train as of now.

The company boss revealed EUR8m had been invested in the new logistics centre which connects the plant to the railway network.

Asamer claimed the new cargo system meant a reduction of 1920t of CO2 emissions per year.
