Peru: Cemento Inka expands capacity
17 November 2009

Carlos Choy, general manager Caliza Cemento Inka, says the company is gaining share in the competitive Peruvian cement market cornered by Cementos Lima (4.5Mta cement capacity). Cemento Inka has been created by the Choy family in 2002 and in 2007 has dedicated its plant that runs 65,000tpa of clinker and 75,000t of cement. Initially the company sold non-packaged cement directly to concrete manufacturers and later on began retailing packaged cement. Choy says Cemento Inka has now its own brand and works distribution channels to expand the presence in Peru. The experience so far has encouraged Inka to expand capacity by 300% to 300,00tpa as of 2010.
