Basel Cement restarts Achinsk cement plant

Basel Cement has restarted cement deliveries from its Achinsk cement plant, the company’s first cement works in Russia. "BaselCement has an extensive program to launch cement plants in Russia and abroad. The Achinsk cement plant is our first plant in Russia," said Dmitry Savenkov, CEO of Basel Cement and according to local reports the plant is already sold out for the next two months.

Meanwhile, a company spokeman added that investment in the relaunch of the Achinsk cement plant totaled just US$13 million with total output volume expected to increase to over 1Mta over the next year. For now, the first line has a design capacity of 0.7Mta, but two more lines are expected to enter operation, bringing the plant’s total capacity to 2.1Mta. Basel Cement has chosen Sinoma, China, as a partner for the construction of the first of these new lines.
