Omani Raysut Cement Co records higher sales

Oman’s Raysut Cement Co registered a 78 per cent year-on-year surge in sales to 24.29 mln Omani rials ($63.1 mln/49.4 mln euro) in the first half of 2006, it was reported on August 26, 2006.  The increase was attributed to the growing demand for cement resulting from the construction boom in the country, officials said. 
 
Raysut Cement Co achieved a gross profit before depreciation of 12.0 mln rials ($31.2 mln/24.4 mln euro), up from 5.5 mln rials ($14.3 mln/11.2 mln euro), and a net profit of 10.07 mln rials ($26.2 mln/20.5 mln euro), up from 5.0 mln rials ($13 mln/10.2 mln euro).

The company set up in 1981 recorded a 76 per cent increase in cement production to 894,000t and a 97 per cent rise in clinker production to 788,000t.
