PT Cemindo Gemilang is to break ground on a new 4Mta cement plant in Banten, the westernmost province on the island of Java, bordering Jakarta.

President director of Cemindo told the Jakarta Post that the company would carry out the plant's groundbreaking on Wednesday.

The plant will begin commercial operations in the third quarter of 2015  and will serve the markets of Banten, Greater Jakarta and West Java.

Last year, Cemindo acquired the majority stake in Vietnamese cement producer Chinfon Cement Corporation. Cemindo is a subsidiary of oil palm plantation, mining and property business holdings Ganda Group.
