Venezuela: state companies to restrict cement sales
21 August 2014

Venezuela's state cement companies have started to regulate the sales of cement. Building companies can only buy cement from plants near their building sites. Due to the declining output, builders were buying the product wherever available, regardless of location.

According to information supplied to the construction sector, Invecem will sell product to companies carrying out work in Aragua, Apure, Carabobo, Miranda, Flacón, Cojedes and part of Guárico state. La Fábrica Nacional de Cemento (FNC) will serve the Miranda market and Venezolana de Cementos will supply Anzoátegui, Monagas and Bolívar construction projects. In Mérida, Táchira, Trujillo and Zulia, Cemento Andino and Cementos Catatumbo (the only privately-held cement producer) are to cover demand.
