Vietnam: export volumes fall for first five months

Vietnam earned US$260.64m from exporting 7.12Mt of cement and clinker in the first five months of this year, down 0.7 per cent on-year in value and 15.7 per cent in volume.

Bangladesh, Philippines and Taiwan were the major importers of Vietnamese clinker and cement in the first five months of this year, the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade said.

Bangladesh took the lead after importing 2.52Mt of cement and clinker worth US$74.89m from Vietnam in the period. The Philippines was next with imports of 1.66Mt worth US$73.24m, while Taiwan ranked third with 429,455t worth US$14.56m.

Lower level importers were Mozambique with 441,455t worth US$12.62m and Malaysia with 293,894t worth US$10.23m.
