Chinese firm Mortal Investments Manufacturing has completed the construction of a US$20m cement plant in Redcliff, Zimbabwe. Initial production is slated to commence at the beginning of February, according to Wang Dongning, CEO of Mortal Investments.

Mr Wang said they have completed the test run of the plant and were now awaiting the green light from the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) and an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) from Environmental Management Agency.

Redcliff Mayor Councillor, Freddy Kapuya, said the company has requested for an additional 10ha of land in the view to expand the plant.

The company will operate the 0.4Mta plant as Livetouch Cement.
