Ambuja Cement ranks highly in global CDP report
19 April 2018

India’s Ambuja Cements Ltd has been ranked as number two in the world in the latest report from the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP). The report features 13 of the largest publicly-listed companies, which account for 15 per cent of global cement production, and highlights their business readiness for a low-carbon economy transition.

"We are delighted with the CDP’s World ranking – and even more as we have topped in the Climate Governance & Strategy. In fact, CO2 emissions’ reduction is one of the key indicators in our sustainability agenda. We lay strong emphasis on development and strict implementation of sustainability to pursue goals beyond financial gains. Our concerted efforts guided by our low-carbon road map have helped us reduce 30 per cent of our CO2 emissions since 1990," said Ajay Kapur, Ambuja Cement MD and CEO.

This follows the company recently developing the first-ever composite cement product, which attained a low clinker factor and offered 16 per cent reduced CO2 emissions, according to a press release.
