In July 2020 Argentina’s cement market contracted by 13.5 per cent YoY to 865,869t but expanded by 8.5 per cent MoM, according to the country’s cement association, AFCP. The market was entirely supplied by domestic production with no imports reported. Cement demand in Argentina has fallen 7.3 per cent YoY to 797,926t in June 2020, according to AFCP, the national cement association. However, MoM a 23 per cent advance was reported. Argentine cement producers supplied 804,727t of cement to the domestic and overseas market, representing a 6.9 per cent YoY decrease but a 23.2 per cent increase when compared with May 2020. Cement consumption in Argentina decreased by 32.8 per cent in May 2020 to reach 648,562t, according to new data published by AFCP, the country’s cement association. In May 2019 domestic dispatches were 964,733t. All volumes were supplied by Argentine cement producers with no imports entering the country. Cement consumption in Argentina dropped 55.2 per cent YoY and 19.7 per cent MoM in April 2020 to 403,652t from 900,938t in April 2019, according to the latest data by the country’s cement association, AFCP. Production in domestic cement plants fell by 55.1 per cent to 407,645t in February 2020 from 908,737t in the equivalent period of the previous year. Cement demand in Argentina fell 46.5 per cent to 502,541t in March 2020 when compared to March 2019 when consumption reached 940,167t, according to the country’s cement association, AFCP. Argentine cement consumption fell by 14.7 per cent YoY to 745,709t in January 2020, according to AFCP, the country’s cement association. The market was entirely supplied by domestic production and no imports were recorded. Output from Argentine cement plants reached 758,123t, down 14.3 per cent YoY from 884,363t in January 2018. Of this total, 12,414t were exported, representing a 19.6 per cent increase when compared with the year-ago period.
