Pakistan’s cement exports fell during 9MFY2016 on a YoY basis dropping by 24.4 per cent in volume terms and 28.9 per cent in US dollar values. Figures released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) show that the country exported 4.6Mt of cement, earning revenue of US$248m during July-Mar 2016. The Jabal Saraj cement plant in Afghanistan's Parwan province has resumed production two decades after its operations were halted due to the devastating civil war, which damaged almost all key infrastructure in the country. Pakistan cement export volumes reached 393,391t on revenues of US$21.1m in January 2016, down 9.52 and 7.8 per cent, respectively compared to the previous month. Pakistan recorded a marked fall in exports over the first six months of the current fiscal, largely on the back of weaker demand and increased competition.   Export revenues were down by 36.54 per cent YoY during the July-December period (ie, 6MFY15-16) to US$170.46m, according to data from Pakistan Bureau of Statistics. Pakistan exports fell to 2.63Mt in the first five months of the current fiscal, down 32.62 per cent YoY, official government data reveals. Pakistan exported 558,049t of cement on revenues of US$32.08m in August 2015, down 42.88 and 44.36 per cent in terms of volume and revenue on a YoY basis, according to the country's Bureau of of Statistics. Pakistan’s domestic cement dispatches increased by 4.19 per cent in July 2015 to 1.8Mt. Exports, however, declined by 7.45 per cent to 465,000t. Pakistan exported 7.682Mt and earned US$443.63m in FY14-15 (July 2014 - June 2015) compared to 8.81Mt at US$508.15m, according to data from the country's Bureau of Statistics. Pakistan's cement exports during April 2015 showed sequential gains but declined over the first 10 months of the current fiscal on an annual comparative basis, with shipments to its main market of Afghanistan down by almost a quarter.
